The Weirdest Mods I’ve Ever Tried (And I Regret Nothing)

I installed these mods so you don’t have to (but you’ll probably want to).

Let’s get one thing straight: I love mods. But sometimes… modders go absolutely wild, and we get weird masterpieces that make zero sense, and yet, they are somehow glorious.

These are the weirdest mods I’ve ever downloaded, installed, and managed to survive. Did my game crash? Probably. Was it worth it? 100%. Let’s dive in.

1. Thomas the Tank Engine – Skyrim Edition

This one’s legendary. It replaces all dragons in Skyrim with Thomas the Tank Engine, complete with haunting choo-choo sounds and bulging cartoon eyes.

He flies. He breathes fire. And he ruins the mood of every dramatic cutscene in the best way.

2. Left 4 Dead 2 – Shrek the Tank

In this mod, Shrek replaces the Tank in Left 4 Dead 2, and it is horrifying! He’s huge. He’s green. And you’re screaming and running from him while crying from laughter!

Here’s how to get it:

  1. Search for “Shrek Tank” on the Steam Workshop or simply click on our Download button below.
  2. Click the “Subscribe” button on the mod page.
  3. The mod should download and install automatically when you launch Left 4 Dead 2.
  4. Ensure the mod is enabled in the game’s Add-ons menu.
  5. Start a game and enjoy Shrek as the Tank!

3. GTA V – Chaos Mod V

With Chaos Mod V, you can expect everything from spontaneous low gravity, exploding cars, NPCs raining gunfire, to random teleportation!

It’s like Los Santos ran through the Upside-Down, let the craziness begin!

Just when you think it’s safe—boom, a whale spawns from the sky!!

4. The Sims 4 – Expanding Head Size Mod

This mod lets you dramatically enlarge (or shrink) your Sims‘ heads, all thanks to sliders in CAS. It transforms everyday gameplay with head proportions that are off the charts. Perfectly ridiculous and endlessly comical.

All facial expressions and interactions look adorably absurd. One minute, your Sim’s rocking a chiseled jaw, and the next, you’re playing with a bobblehead.

5. Minecraft – Chaos Edition (MCCE) Mod

Inspired by SM64 Chaos Edition, Minecraft Chaos Edition (MCCE) randomly applies over 60 insane effects every ~750 ticks (~38 seconds).

Effects range from beneficial to downright cursed:

  • Sudden speed boosts
  • Lava rains
  • Gravity warps
  • Surprise mobs, etc

Note

Effects stack unpredictably, making even a simple mining run wild and hilarious.

6. Resident Evil 3 Remake – Dino Evil 3

This creative mod replaces every zombie in Resident Evil 3 with dinosaurs! Can you imagine? Just think velociraptors and T. rex stalking you down the alleyways instead of the undead horde. It’s like Jurassic Park crashed through the zombie apocalypse.

Perfect for horror fans who want an unexpected twist

7. DOOM II – Weird Ass Day Mod

You wake up in hell after goblins have stolen… your private parts. Sounds odd? Well…. it gets odder. This mod drops you into 9 custom levels filled with bizarre weaponry, strange enemies, and enough crude humor to make a frat boy blush.

Note

Mods remind us that games can be stupid, silly, and chaotic, and that’s a good thing.

Here’s the thing: weird mods are a form of art. They take your serious game and turn it into a circus of nightmares and memes. And honestly? That’s why I love them. Because sometimes, after a long day, I don’t want realism. I want a dinosaur chasing me through Raccoon City. What’s the weirdest mod you’ve ever tried? Drop it in the comments cause I’m always down to install cursed mods for science!
