Have you ever imagined playing GTA but instead of being the criminal, this time, you are the police officer? Yes, you read that right. I know… Sounds crazy right? Well, I’ve played the demo and I will let you know everything we know so far about this amazing game, The Precinct.

What is The Precinct?

The Precinct has been developed by: Fallen Tree Games and published by: Kwalee

It is a single-player, action, open-world, simulation, crime game, and for now, you can play the demo of the game, which you will find available for free on Steam. The game has been set for release in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Overview

The Precinct is taking us back to the ’80s in Averno City. You play Officer Nick Cordell Jr, who has just finished the Academy and started working in ACPD.

You will have to deal with every kind of crime in the city. From illegal parking to robbery, you will need to take the right actions against every crime and resolve the issues caused, (Yes, each crime has a different approach and that is something I liked a lot!). In the meantime, you are also trying to solve the mystery of your father’s murder, who was also a police officer.

Patrol Options

There are three patrol types:

  • Flying a helicopter: Respond to calls and assist the units by finding and following the suspect so they know his exact location.
  • Foot patrolling: Check the neighborhoods and face encounters like graffiti spraying or illegal parking.
  • Car patrolling: Respond to calls and chase the criminals.

Gameplay

Usually, you will be soloing the pursuits; sometimes, though, you will get help from your partner. Every day, you start your shift at the police department, where you get informed about your daily duties. You hit the roads solo or with your partner, and you enforce the Law where you have to in order to protect the city.

Everything takes place in a dynamic environment where you are not only experiencing the change of day and night but you also get different weather types, and that adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game. As you progress in the game you will be able to unlock new weapons, vehicles, etc.

Remember, in The Precinct you have only one option: playing the good cop. In case you want to experiment a bit and play the bad cop, you will have to face the consequences of your actions. So keep that in mind.
