GTA VI’s second trailer was both exciting and a failure

Who would have thought that we'd get a trailer with no actual gameplay whatsoever?

Rockstar Games finally released the second trailer for the world’s most anticipated game, GTA VI. Although we didn’t get to see anything about the actual gameplay, the company gave us more information about the protagonists, main characters, story, and the whole world they’ve been creating for the last few years.

First things first: If there’s anything that we know right now, that would be the release date for GTA VI (which, I can honestly say, that it may get delayed, again), which is coming on May 26, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The game will take place in Vice City, which is truly exciting but not as realistic as many would have thought, given the fact that California doesn’t look exactly as the game. But it’s a game, so relax, people!

We also know more about our two main protagonists, and here’s how Rockstar Games basically showcases them to the world:

Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

Jason seems to be one of those kids who had to join the Army to shake off its troubled past, but finds himself doing exactly what he knows best: working for local drug runners.

Lucia, on the other hand, learned how to fight thanks to her dad, and found herself landed in Leonida Penitentiary. Now she’s out, and she learned a very hard lesson: from now on, only smart movies.

We also learned about Cal Hampton, Jason’s best friend and a fellow associate of Brian’s.

Now, Cal seems a bit creepy, but he seems like a chill dude who loves drinking beers, snooping on Coast Guard comms, and browsing the internet.

Cal is at the low tide of America and happy there. Casual paranoia loves company, but his friend Jason has bigger plans.

Then we have Boobie Ike, which is a local Vice City legend — and acts like it. He’s one of the few who transformed his time in the streets into a legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio.

There are many other characters too, including Dre’Quan Priest (a hustler who dreams of being a singer who just signed the Real Dimez), Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe and Roxy, aka Real Dimez, the popular influencers in GTA VI), Raul Bautista (a bank robber), and Brian Heder (a drug runner).

As to be expected with all the new information that we got, GTA VI will surely have bank robberies, clubs, a music industry, and lots, lots of shootings.

There are many things to talk about GTA VI and all the things that we found out by watching the first and second trailers, and I’ll be covering them all in an upcoming article, along with every character we know and their backstories.

P.S. When I am talking about failure, I’m strictly speaking about not getting any actual gameplay footage and, of course, about the new release date, which goes way beyond the expectations that we had.
