You won’t even believe how much you can learn about the gaming industry and what’s being released just by listening to a couple of podcasts. Whether you’re driving, putting the laundry, taking a break, or cooking, these hosts will keep you entertained at all times.
Now, don’t get me wrong, not all podcasts are for everyone. If you listen to something that you didn’t like, continue to the next one, and you never know when you’ll find the best for your taste.
I wasn’t really a fan of gaming podcasts a year ago, but since we started this blog, I’ve started finding more and more in that niche, and I gotta say, some of them are pretty incredible and very fun to listen to.
Each podcast is available on multiple streaming platforms, and you can find all of them below its episodes, or play them straight through our website.
1. Get Played
Originally launched in June 2019 under the title How Did This Get Played?, Get Played is a weekly comedy podcast where hosts Heather Anne Campbell, Nick Wiger, and Matt Apodaca delve into the world of video games.
So basically, each episode is about a specific game or gaming topic, and they just have a lot of fun with it. The hosts are hilarious, but they also actually have some smart takes.
They usually bring on guests too (mostly other comedians or people who love games), so the conversations are always entertaining and kind of feel like you’re just hanging out with a bunch of funny friends talking about games.

Comedians and Video Game enthusiasts Heather Anne Campbell, Nick Wiger and Matt Apodaca discuss all things gaming. Join them as they joke about the games they’re playing, have played, and will play someday. Good games and bad games: It’s time to Get Played!
Zane Carney returns to the show to talk about being a contestant on The Voice of Romania, playing video games while on tour with Foster the People and Joe Jonas, and to talk about games set in outer space!

2. The Nextlander Podcast
So the Nextlander Podcast is this weekly hangout with three guys, Vinny, Brad, and Alex, who’ve been in the games industry like.. forever. If you followed Giant Bomb back in the day, you’ll definitely know them. They’ve got great chemistry and tons of experience, so their takes on games are always solid but also super chill and funny.
In each episode, they talk about what they’ve been playing, what’s going on in the gaming world, and honestly, whatever else they feel like chatting about. It’s got this really laid-back vibe, like you’re just listening to a bunch of friends who really know their stuff.

Longtime friends and games media colleagues Vinny Caravella, Brad Shoemaker, and Alex Navarro share their combined decades of knowledge, expertise, and passion for games with weekly discussions about what they’re playing, what’s happening in the industry, and whatever else they’re up to.

3. The Jeff Gerstmann Show
The Jeff Gerstmann Show is a weekly podcast hosted by Jeff Gerstmann, a veteran in the video game journalism industry. In this solo-hosted show, Jeff shares his extensive knowledge of video games, the gaming industry, and even energy drinks.
Each episode features discussions on recent trends in gaming technology, critiques of popular titles, and reflections on the evolving landscape of game development. Beyond the main podcast, Jeff offers additional content through his Patreon, including ad-free episodes, bonus shows like Game Boyz II Men, and access to his community Discord.

Jeff Gerstmann brings his extreme knowledge of video games, the video game industry, and energy drinks to you each and every week.
Between Q-Up and It Takes A War it’s been a good little stretch for games that might not quite be what they seem. Let’s talk about those along games that are very much what they seem, like Lumines Arise, Powerwash Simulator 2, and Grand Theft Auto VI. Plus: The five-year anniversary of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 is upon us. Wow!

4. The Besties
The Besties is a weekly video game podcast hosted by Griffin McElroy, Justin McElroy, Chris Plante, and Russ Frushtick. Described as “Game of the Year meets King of the Hill,” the show features the four hosts ranking and reviewing their favorite video games, aiming to determine the best games of the year.
Each episode blends insightful game analysis with the hosts’ humor, and they discuss recent game releases, share personal gaming experiences, and occasionally delve into other pop culture topics. The podcast’s relaxed and conversational style has been praised for its approachability, even for listeners with limited gaming knowledge.

It’s Game of the Year meets King of the Hill as four of Earth’s best friends – Griffin McElroy, Justin McElroy, Chris Plante, and Russ Frushtick – rank and review their favorite video games. Because shouldn’t the world’s best friends pick the world’s best games?
Fortnite’s new Simpsons update reimagines the entire experience through the decades-old cartoon. You can select from Homer, Lisa, Flanders, Moe, and other playable characters, then skydive into a faithful recreation of Springfield. The detail is absurd, down to the operable trap door button in Mr. Burns’ office. It feels like the culmination of Epic Games’ efforts to be the black hole that pulls in every corner of mainstream pop culture. Fortnite has become so big and so appealing that it raises the uncomfortable question floating around the rise of similar Forever Games: are most people motivated to play anything else?
