If there’s anything to be said about our favorite neighborhood Spider-Man, that would be that he’s arguably one of the best superheroes that the world has ever seen – but for 59,99€? Well, let’s just say that it’s way too expensive for what it provides.
I love it when a good old game gets remastered. But what I like even more is when they take their time improving it even further. Although Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered has arguably seen many improvements, I still couldn’t but wonder: When did we normalize such high prices for games?
Especially if we’re gonna play basically the same game but improved, the 59,99€ price tag (on Steam) for me was a bit too high (I may or may not find it cheaper. I also may or may not added the link at the end of this post.)
Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC brings you back the good old nostalgia by playing Peter Parker. Fighting criminals and iconic villains in the beautiful New York that Marvel has created while enjoying the hero’s abilities and living its chaotic life.
Now, how much time will you spend playing this game? That differs on your gameplay style and how much you want to explore the world world.
- If you’re fast and experienced, you’re looking at around 20 hours of gameplay.
- If you’re going for all the extras provided, you’re looking at around 25-30 hours.
- If you’re a completionist, it may take up to 40 hours to collect all suits, photo ops, and other collectibles.
If you want that great nostalgic feeling, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered absolutely will give it to you, but this time with great graphics, improved gameplay, and faster loading times (if your PC can run it). I had lots of fun playing it, except maybe those frustrating puzzles that you have to solve.
Other than that, I liked its gameplay style a lot, but later, and after I had progressed through the story, the fighting kinda became boring, and I felt like I was constantly doing the same moves.
If you’re coming from the original game and you’re wondering what you’ll be getting for that price tag, here are all the changes and improvements:
- The remastered version boasts enhanced graphics, including ray-traced reflections, improved lighting, and highly detailed character models that make the game feel next-gen.
- Support for 60 FPS in Performance Mode and 4K resolution in Fidelity Mode.
- Available on PC with support for ultra-wide monitors and customizable graphics settings.
- Faster loading times thanks to the new SSD technology.
- Comes with The City That Never Sleeps expansion, offering extra storylines and hours of additional gameplay.
- The web-swinging and combat mechanics are well-improved too.
- The remastered version includes an enhanced photo mode to capture Spider-Man in action with amazing detail and creative options.
- 3D audio enhances the sense of scale in New York City, making the environment feel alive.
Depending on your budget and willingness to replay the game, this time a whole lot improved, and put some pressure on your GPU, then Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered may be a great choice for your gaming library.
What made me spend many more hours playing and exploring the game was its Photo Mode, a feature that I couldn’t resist not to mention. Players have the option to take high-quality photos, edit them, and then save them.
The Photo Mode feature also gives you the option to take selfies, and it makes the pictures look amazingly good. I don’t even know how many times I looked closely at the whole map to find the best spots for better shots – and believe it or not, by doing that I saw the true work that the developers put in making it.

Overall, if you’re a Spider-Man fan or looking to get the remastered version, my experience was more than good. The gameplay is fun – although the battles start to become a bit boring – you get to solve puzzles, explore the whole city with your webs, find and collect all the collectives, and take some great shots to share with your friends.
