Do you enjoy going grocery shopping? Have you ever dreamt of owning a grocery store? If the answer to both is yes, then Supermarket Together is definitely for you!
I have been playing the game for quite some time now and I love it! Here is everything I know about the game so far and why I think it will become your next favorite simulator game.
What is Supermarket Together?
Supermarket Together is a free multiplayer simulation game released on 9 August 2024. The game was developed and published by DeadDevsTellNoLies and is available for download through Steam.
FUN FACT: Supermarket Together is the first and, so far, the only game that DeadDevsTellNoLies released, and it was immediately loved by players. The game recently hit and surpassed the threshold of 10 million downloads!! That alone says a lot for a new game—people love it!!
Gameplay
Supermarket Together starts with an empty store, waiting for you to run it. Trust me, it’s not as simple as it sounds. You need strategic moves in order to run your store efficiently. But let’s start with the basics.
Starting with a few shelves, a cash register, and a basic line of products, you pretty much do everything in-store. You are responsible for ordering the products, putting them away in the storage room, arranging them on the shelves, and also being the cashier and the cleaner. Sounds like a lot huh?
Well, worry not because if you play your cards right, after a few in-game days, you will be able to hire your first employee and in a short while, you will have a lot of employees to work on your grocery store.
On the other hand, you can always play in the multiplayer mode of Supermarket Together. There you can play with other people in the same grocery store and cooperate with them in order to try to run the business successfully.
Game Modes
Depending on your preferences and your play style, you can choose one of the two available modes:
- Solo mode
- Multiplayer mode
If you decide to play solo you need to keep in mind that things will be a little bit more harsh for you, since it is you and only you the one who will run the show. Of course, after a while, things get easier. It’s only the beginning you need to consider.
On the other hand, if you decide to jump into multiplayer mode, things will be more fun and exciting. You can play with up to 16 people and split tasks, so everything is way smoother.
The only thing, I didn’t like AT ALL while I was checking the multiplayer mode, is that sometimes you will play with people who don’t care and they will do whatever it takes to ruin everyone else’s progress. But of course, this is a common issue when it comes to almost every multiplayer game.
Graphics & Audio
When it comes to the graphics and the audio of the game, don’t expect much. There is room for improvement for sure, but the game itself is so amazing that you won’t mind anything else.
Unlock Perks
As you progress in the game you will get granted Franchise Points. You can use them to unlock more product categories, add some advantages to your business, or boost your employees’ skills.
The more you progress in the game, the more points you will earn. Each perk needs a specific number of points to unlock, so make sure to check that each time.
In general, it is not hard to earn Franchise Points, and it’s up to you how you will spend them. Just keep in mind, that if you decide to open your business in a multiplayer mode, other people can also use them for you. But you can always remove these permissions from them, so you have peace of mind.
Order Products
You can order more products for your grocery store by using the manager’s blackboard.
Here you can find all the unlocked products, available to you. Next to every product you will see three colored boxes. The red box indicates how many products you have in shelves, the green indicates how many products you have in storage, and the yellow indicates how many products you have in boxes.
If you pay attention to these boxes, you will know what to order and what not. This way, ordering stock won’t become complicated as you unlock more products for your store.
Manage Employees
Hiring employees can take some time, but when that time comes and your team starts to grow you will need a tool to manage them.
Once more, the manager’s blackboard comes to the rescue. Using the employees tab, as shown in the picture, you can hire, dismiss, and assign tasks to your employees.
Each one, depending on their skills, has a different daily salary. You can either hire a pro and pay accordingly or hire someone with low skills that will cost you way less money, and as he/she works on the assigned daily tasks his/her skills will improve in time.
There is also a happiness indicator for every employee. The more you upgrade the staff room, the happier your employees will be.
Expand your Business
Expanding your Supermarket will become necessary at some point. You can simply do so, by using this board and choosing which space you want to expand. Choose between shop space, storage space, or even both depending on your needs, and grow your business!
Thieves
A HUGE highlight of the game that hasn’t been mentioned so far is that of the thieves! Clients can often become impatient if there is a big queue at the cashier and leave without paying. Sad isn’t it?
Well, there are many ways to avoid this situation. You can add antitheft detection to the exit doors of your supermarket, add cameras, or even a security stand. But your most powerful ”weapon” against these cruel thieves is one, the broom!!
Yes, you read that right. Broom is not only used to clean but it is also used to strike shoplifters and get back your products! At the end of the day, they chose violence first, right?
Console Availability
Supermarket Together is available for PC, and it is not known yet if it will be released on other gaming platforms.
If there is any future announcement regarding that, I will make sure to keep you updated.
