Review Overview

Guild Wars 2 is a free-to-play MMORPG developed by ArenaNet and published by NCSoft (2012). Unlike any other game of this category, Guild Wars2 distinguishes itself through several key features that keep players engaged. In this article, you will find all the standout elements that set it apart, and trust me you will love them.

Free to Play

Guild Wars 2 operates on a free-to-play model, meaning players can download the base game for free plus there is not a monthly subscription fee. This model gives access to more players to try the game and it also allows players to take their time and enjoy the game at their own pace, which, if you ask me is very important.

Character Creation

Before you create your character you will first need to pick a race. You can choose between 5 races Asura, Sylvari, Human, Norn, and Charr. Every race has its own characteristics that make your character unique. When it comes to professions you can choose between Mesmer, Guardian, Necromancer, Ranger, Elementalist, Warrior, Thief, Engineer, and Revenant (although this one is exclusive to Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns and Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire game expansions. Each profession comes with unique abilities and lore and enables players to tailor their characters to fit their preferred playstyle.

World Exploration and Dynamic Event System

Guild Wars 2 will introduce you to the fantasy world of Tyria, offering a great atmosphere for players to enjoy the game with great visuals. With every map completion, you gain rewards and exp points that will help you progress in the game. Guild Wars 2 open world is meant to be explored and it not only offers beautiful sceneries it also offers puzzle games, collection items, and dynamic events that make those, who like to complete every single aspect in-game, engage in the game. Ok yes, I will admit it, I am one of them!

As mentioned earlier Guild Wars 2 offers dynamic events. It’s nothing like regular quests as they pop at certain times on every map and you don’t need a party to join them, everyone gets rewards based on the time and effort they put into every event. This feature creates a living world where players can influence the environment and story and makes the game so unique.

World vs. World (WvW)

The WvW is a game mode that allows players to engage in PvP battles and also engages some PvE elements. This mode is all about teamwork, as players work together to capture or defend objectives and defeat opposing teams. WvW offers a hybrid reward system that combines passive and active rewards.

Game Expansions

Guild Wars 2 offers a wide variety of expansions which if you play them in the correct order complete the storyline, as it is something that is progressing through them. Below you will find the list I made in the correct order to save you some time if you decide to purchase them:

Conclusion

Guild Wars 2 offers a unique and engaging experience setting it apart from other MMORPGs. Community interaction, living world events, and dynamic storytelling make it a standout title in the genre. It is a game that you can totally enjoy even if you own the base game although including the game expansions to your collection will definitely give you more content and bring more hours of joy to your playtime.
